MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON JUNE 7th 2005 AT HENFIELD C.C
Present: Peter Graves (President) Norman Teague (Chairman) Nic Nolan (Secretary) Richard Prokopowicz (Treasurer) Laurie Claydon (Competitions Secretary) Paul Tolchard (Press Secretary) and representatives from Ansty, Billingshurst, Broadbridge Heath, Clymping, Henfield, Slinfold and Worthing Chippingdale with the exception of Horsham Trinity.
Apologises for Absence:
received from vice-chairman David Horsman.
The minutes of the Management Committee Meeting of 12th April 2005 were approved and signed by Norman Teague.
Matters Arising:
Laurie Claydon stated that Scaynes Hill had not collected their handbooks. Also Laurie Cheesemen award forms, are these being filled in as they go.
Correspondence:
Eastergate 1st XI v East Preston 1st XI 30th April 2005
East Preston appealed against Eastergate’s cancellation believing that a mix up with Eastergate Football Club meant that they were unable to prepare a pitch for that date. Eastergate’s explaination was accepted and the result will stay as a cancelled fixture.
Southwater appealed against Aldwicks early cancellation.
The committees decision was to reject Southwater’s appeal. Result to stand as
cancelled fixture.
Crawley CC appealed against the decision to class Paul Malatsky as an overseas player. The committee up held the original decision. Paul Malatsky is to be classed as an overseas player.
East Preston asked for clarification on an incident which occurred in the above mentioned fixture. The last wicket fell on the 1st ball of the 41st over but off a wide so only 40 overs had been bowled. East Preston asked whether this counts as part of the 41st over, the answer is yes.
Recording
suspensions
All players suspended by the league will be notified to the Sussex Board and the ECB.
Treasurer’s report:
Richard Prokopowicz states we are in a healthy position with £3500 in bank. Handbooks have been paid for and only three clubs fined to date.
Competition’s Secretary’s report:
Laurie Claydon stated that result forms have arrived in
messy states, details in wrong sections. Some complaints about new balls in wet
conditions. More teams are tending to bowl first. Problems with time, proposal
for earlier start times next season and also teams turning up late. Proposal for
teams turning up late to forfeit toss.
CLUBS CAN MUTUALLY AGREE TO START GAMES EARLIER IF THEY WISH
Portslade 1 V Middleton1 – game cancelled due to vandals. The game can be replayed but must be by last weekend of season.
Still problems with free dates April 2006 due to clash with football. Any ideas to help solve contact Laurie.
Press Secretary report:
Paul Tolchard reports that only three results not phoned in so far this season. Any problems with website let Paul know.
Annual Dinner:
Slinfold and Southwater are to send out draft letter to clubs with details. Also mandatory purchase of tickets. Two per club
Any Other business:
Letter from Stoner league about the withdrawal of Scaynes Hill 3rd team and refused to pay fine. Stoner League written to Sussex Cricket Board asking for Scaynes Hill to be banned.
Due to the state that some of the individual trophies returned in and also non collection at the dinner it was decided to stop doing these. Club Trophies will remain.
Proposal for next season that all 1st elevens
must provide an umpire. There have been some incidents of teams not providing an
umpire and this puts pressure on opposing captains.
The meeting started at 8pm and closed at 9.05 pm The next meeting, Executive Committee meeting will be on July 5th at Henfield Cricket Club
