Secretary), P Tolchard (Results
Coordinator) and representatives from ALL 36 Clubs

(Treasurer)
Minutes of the Previous Meeting of
November 25th 2003 were approved
Matters Arising
Vacancies remained for League Secretary
and Vice-Chairman and East Preston were
seeking an alternative venue for their
home 1st XI fixture on August 7th.
Request
from Arundel
A letter was read requesting that the club
be permitted to play in their 1st XI,
in addition to an expected Bangladeshi
player, an Australian (David Buck) who
was born in England, held a U/K passport
and had an English parent. He has re-
turned to work having been in England in
2000 and 2001. It was agreed, without
dissent, that he should be allowed to
play.
Reports
All fees had been paid, including £1,080 in deposits, and with the
handbooks
paid for the balance was £3,119-11. Mr Claydon reported that fewer handbooks
had been printed than ordered and that
Clymping, Crawley Eagles, East Preston,
Findon, Ifield and Scaynes Hill had been
late in providing club details for the
handbook. He reminded clubs of the need to destroy all existing match
details
forms and advised that Crawley had yet to
notify their free date for 2005 and
that clarification was needed re those for
Aldwick and Ifield.
Annual
Dinner
There was nothing to report other than
that Mr Graves had booked comedian Ager
Brown to be the main speaker.
Seminars
for Umpires and Scorers
Four clubs - Clymping, East Preston,
Eastergate and Middleton - had failed to
attend and were each fined £10. The cost to the League had been £130 including
a
donation of £50 to the Umpires
Association. Following the seminars,
it will be necessary for clubs to complete
a team sheet prior to each match and
to retain these for the season; letters will be sent to clubs regarding a
pos-
sible panel for Division 1 1st XI umpires
and there could be the marks for teams
and umpires. Mr Teague believed that the Sussex League were introducing a code
of varying penalties to punish
transgressions by players.
Other
Business
Don Semmons had requested that match forms
for the Sunday Cup Competition be.
sent to Mr Tolchard but no details need to
be telephoned; neutral umpires would
be
appointed to the semi-finals and
final. Sussex County Cricket Club were
piloting a 20/20 Competition at the County
Ground on Sunday 29th August from
12.30pm with one side each from four
leagues; any interested club would need
to
contact Mr Semmons by the end of
April. It was agreed that any change
or in-
crease in the categories to determine the
winners of the Laurie Cheesman Memor-
ial Trophy should be discussed by the
Executive Committee. It was
anticipated
that both Arundel and Lindfield would
attend the first Executive Committee meet-
ing on June 1st to explain their proposed
changes to rule and were asked to pro-
vide these in advance.
The Meeting commenced at
8.08pm and closed at 8.49pm.

7th (Executive
Committee); September 28th and November 30th (ALL
