May 10th : The batsmen hit back this week with the first centuries of the season going to Dave Burtenshaw 115 (Portslade 2nd's), Paul Elphick 109* (Scaynes Hill 2nd's) and Brian Chambers 105 (West Chiltington 1st's). Broadbridge Heath 2nd XI scored the highest total of 280-5 with another 9 sides reaching 200. Best bowling was by Greg Thwaites (Eastergate 1st's) he took 7-22, while Darryl Rebbetts (East Preston 1st's) followed up his hat-trick and 4 wkts last week with 5-40 today. 16 yr old Josh Stocks (Selsey 1st's) also took his season's total of wkts to 9 with 4-29 against Broadwater. Two other teenagers to do well were 14yr old David Bowen-Davies (West Chiltington 2nd's) with 41* and 13 yr old Charlie Leforet (Aldwick 2nd's) with 4-36. May 3rd : A good opening day for the bowlers with 8 teams bowled out for less than 100, including Aldwick 1st's and St. Andrews 2nd's who were both bowled out for less than 50! Top of the bowlers was Steve Martin (Southwick 2nd's) with figs. of 7-22 and Fallah (Crawley Eagles 1st's) who took 7-33. Andrew Danson (Clymping 1st's), Nick Baker (Southwater 1st's), Pete Mansell (Worthing Chippingdale 2nd's) and Ray Slaughter (Rustington 2nd's) all picked up 6 wkt hauls and Darryl Rebbetts (East Preston 1st's) took the first hat-trick of the season. Top batsmen were Karl Pierce (Clymping 1st's) and Ian Murray (St. Andrews 1st's) both with 85 and Steve Waller (Broadwater 2nd's) with 80. |
